Bike HandlingToday’s ride should have been simple and a sorta fun experience. Brian even went with me and didn’t take off like a man on fire. For the most part it was fun. We started out at an easy pace with good cadence. All was going fine until I had to push a bigger gear (specific training) to build muscular endurance. Sounds easy enough I thought. NOT so much! My legs don’t like going slower, and besides that, it hurt! I completed the “muscular endurance” part of the ride and still had to get back home. OMG! My legs were pretty much done but I had to figure out how to hold a higher cadence, stay in heart rate zones and keep my speed up. Brian promptly informed me that I was complaining too much and to just spin. “Let your legs do the work and spin,” he says with a smile. HA! After my little fit, I made my legs go faster, much to their protest and finished my ride feeling great. The wind didn’t even get me down. Another ride in the books. Hopefully I will get faster. I am tired of my 18.5 mph race pace.
